Custom ironwork, gates, and railings crafted for Olympia's historic neighborhoods, capitol-area properties, and growing South Sound suburbs.
Bare Ornamental Iron LLC brings certified welding craftsmanship to homes and businesses across Olympia.
Olympia carries a mix of stately government architecture, waterfront charm along Budd Inlet, and quiet residential streets in neighborhoods like the Westside, Eastside, and South Capitol. As an ornamental iron company working throughout the South Sound, we design custom ironwork that fits this range, whether it's a wrought iron fence for a bungalow near Percival Landing or a security gate for a business off Capitol Way.
Homeowners in the South Capitol neighborhood, close to the Governor's Mansion and the Capitol lake, often want ironwork that respects the historic character of their homes without looking dated. We build custom iron gates and railings that echo classic patterns while standing up to decades of Pacific Northwest weather.
Out toward Tumwater Falls Park and the newer subdivisions near Hawks Prairie, the ask shifts more toward practical wrought iron fencing and residential iron gates for privacy and security. Either way, our custom metal fabrication process starts with a conversation about how you actually use your property.
Every project we take on in Olympia starts with a design conversation and ends with a piece built to last. Below is the full range of ironwork services available to Olympia residents and business owners, each backed by our in-house fabrication and certified welders.

See wrought iron railingsWorking with a nearby iron fabrication company instead of an out-of-town outfit means someone who knows Olympia's neighborhoods, permitting offices, and climate is handling your project from design to install. Here's what that looks like in practice:
Olympia sits at the south end of Puget Sound, which means near-constant moisture, mild but persistent rain through fall and winter, and salt air near Budd Inlet and the marina. Iron that isn't properly prepped and coated rusts fast here, so every gate, railing, and fence we build gets primed, coated, and finished to handle that environment for the long haul.
The city's architecture ranges from early 1900s craftsman and foursquare homes near the Capitol Campus to newer traditional and craftsman-style builds in areas like Tumwater and Lacey's edge. That mix shapes our design choices: classic scrollwork and simpler picket patterns for historic streets, cleaner modern lines for newer construction.
Rolling terrain around the Westside bluffs and drainage-prone lots near Percival Creek also affect fence and gate layout. We factor in grade changes and drainage when we design custom iron fences so gates swing properly and panels sit level for years, not just the first season.
Most residential wrought iron fencing and gate projects fall under Thurston County or City of Olympia setback and height rules rather than requiring a full building permit, but corner lots and taller security gates can trigger additional review. We check local requirements before installation so your project passes inspection without delays.
A straightforward residential iron gate typically takes two to four weeks from final measurement to installation, depending on design complexity and current shop schedule. Larger commercial iron gates or custom ironwork with detailed scrollwork can take longer since fabrication happens by hand in our Tacoma shop.
Some newer Olympia developments, including parts of Hawks Prairie, have HOA guidelines on fence height, style, and material. We review any HOA paperwork you provide before finalizing a design so your wrought iron fence or gate clears approval the first time.
We're seeing steady demand for residential iron gates and wrought iron fencing in newer South Olympia subdivisions, along with security gates and window security bars for downtown storefronts near Capitol Way and 4th Avenue. Balcony railings and custom stair railings also come up often for condo and townhome renovations near Percival Landing.
Whether you need a wrought iron fence near the South Capitol neighborhood, a security gate for a Capitol Way storefront, or custom stair railings for a home near Tumwater Falls, Bare Ornamental Iron LLC is ready to build it right.
